FORT DOUGLAS TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Fort Douglas Safety Information

While all reasonable measures have been taken to ensure the safety of our visitors and to provide information and warning signs, each adult visitor has a responsibility for their own safety and those of their fellow visitors whilst on site. Please note the following whilst at Fort Douglas:

• All little adventurers need to be accompanied by an adult (age 18+).
• Adult-only groups (age 13+) are not allowed in Fort Douglas.
• You’ll find bathrooms at the entrance in the Fort Douglas Hub and another beside The Coffee Cabin in the centre of the playground.
• Unfortunately dogs are not allowed to go into Fort Douglas, but can enjoy the rest of Dalkeith Country Park. Assistance dogs that have the appropriate certification/collars are permitted in Fort Douglas, but must be kept on lead at all times.
• The majority of the equipment in this playground is designed to be moderately challenging. Some items may only be suitable for over 5s or 6s (you’ll see a 6+ blue sticker).
• Big people decide. Only you know the abilities and limitations of the children in your care. Please keep an eye on them and make sure they’re playing safely.
• Be safe. Keep away from the river banks.
• Decide on a meeting point in case your group splits up.
• Please note BBQs are not permitted here, but we have lots of picnic benches.
• In the event of an emergency, please contact a member of staff or dial 999.
• We recommend booking online in advance to secure your visit and receive the best available ticket price.
• You will be able to use your ticket anytime during the all day session from 10.00 – 17.00.
• Tickets will be scanned at the entrance.
• Tickets are non-refundable except in cases of a Force Majeure Event.

FORT DOUGLAS PARTY TERMS & CONDITIONS

• Parties must be booked up to 48 hours in advance.
• Party bookings are non-refundable. We can try and move your booking to a different date however this is subject to availability, and we must be notified 48 hours prior to your booking.  
• All little adventures attending a party need to be accompanied by at least one adult (age 18+) at all times.
• Birthday cakes must be purchased 1 week in advance of booking and are non-refundable.  

FRIENDS OF DALKEITH MEMBERSHIP TERMS & CONDITIONS

• Friends of Dalkeith memberships are purchased online and you will be issued with an e-ticket. This will give temporary access to the Park.
• Once you’ve received your confirmation email please collect your card from the Parking Hut between 09.00 – 17.00 any day of the week.
• Oak memberships are per car and you will be asked to provide your car registration number when collecting your card.
• Show your card to receive 10% discount in The Kitchen for up to 6 people. Discount not applicable in other catering outlets or The Store.

DALKEITH PALACE TOUR TERMS & CONDITIONS

• All Palace Tour tickets are non-refundable.
• In exceptional circumstances, we will endeavour to move your Palace Tour booking to another date. Please contact Dalkeith Country Park directly to discuss your booking.
• We reserve the right to cancel or close Dalkeith Palace. If this happens, we will refund the full ticket cost, including the booking fee.
• Palace Tour tickets must be booked in advance.
• Promotional codes and discounts cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion, discount or offer. Promotional codes are not valid on seasonal event tickets (including Halloween, Christmas and Easter trails) or annual passes.

PHOTODALKEITH EVENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• We reserve the right to cancel Events for any reason.
• If the Event is cancelled, a refund will be provided except in the case of a Force Majeure Event. Tickets are non-refundable in all other circumstances.

FORT DOUGLAS HALLOWEEN COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• The competition is open to visitors taking part in our Halloween activities between 10 October and 1 November 2026.
• To enter, submit a photo of your Halloween fancy dress to us using the competition entry button or email to info@dalkeithcountrypark.co.uk
• One winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries.
• The winner will receive Fort Douglas passes for one year for a maximum of 2 adults and 3 children.
• The winner will be contacted directly by Dalkeith Country Park using the contact details provided with their entry.
• If the winner does not respond within a reasonable period, Dalkeith Country Park reserves the right to select an alternative winner.
• The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other prize.
• By submitting a photo, you confirm that you have permission for the image to be shared with Dalkeith Country Park for competition purposes.
• Dalkeith Country Park reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw the competition where necessary.

THE BIG HALLOWEEN SCREEN TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• Tickets are non-refundable except in cases of a Force Majeure Event.
