At Dalkeith Country Park, we don’t do ordinary. We do tree-top adventures, magical playgrounds, river-side camping and alfresco eats with views to match. We’re a one-stop shop for long summer days, big family days-out, and unforgettable moments just outside Edinburgh.

Fort Douglas Adventure Playground
The stuff of your little ones’ dreams – only real. Climb through Sky Maze, conquer the turreted treehouse and bounce on giant jumping pillows in our award-winning Fort Douglas Adventure Playground.
Designed for children up to 12, it’s a place where parents are welcome to join the fun and make magical memories together.
Need a treat? The new and improved Coffee Cabin is open every day all summer long with your favourite hot and cold drinks, Giacopazzi’s ice cream and more.
Summer Camping
Pitch up and unwind at our stunning country park campsite – just 20 minutes from Edinburgh’s festivals, attractions and city buzz.
Choose your own pitch on arrival – or go hassle-free with a pre-pitched bell tent complete with comfy air beds. Our traffic-free site keeps things peaceful, with nearby parking for easy access. And yes, well-behaved dogs (up to two per pitch) are very welcome!
With all The Park’s adventures on your doorstep, it’s the perfect spot to camp just outside Edinburgh this summer.
Restoration Yard
Tuck in and chill out. From lazy brunches to afternoon cake stops, Restoration Yard is the soul-soothing heart of The Park. Our restaurant – The Kitchen – and Coffee Bar serve up delicious seasonal plates with gorgeous park views.
And when you’ve eaten your fill? Treat yourself in The Store – home to beautiful books, kids’ goodies, homewares and gifts galore.
Go Ape
Take your tribe to new heights at Go Ape Dalkeith! With three treetop courses for all ages and thrill levels, there’s a sky-high challenge waiting for everyone.
Prefer to stay grounded? Test your brainpower on Stumped, Go Ape’s woodland puzzle trail. And don’t miss Archery Tag – the hit activity that’s Archery meets dodgeball in a fast-paced outdoor battle!
Summer Events
From big events to local traditions and getting back to nature, there’s plenty to pop in the diary this summer. Coming up on 11 July, the historic Dalkeith Show brings a full day of farming fun, local produce, and family-friendly entertainment.
Explore Dalkeith Country Park this summer with our new Summer Wandering Trails – a series of simple, themed routes designed to spark curiosity and encourage little explorers to discover the grounds in a fun, relaxed way. And don’t miss The Market on the third Saturday of the month – a buzzing celebration of local makers, bakers, and producers.
Waymarked Trails
Take the scenic route! Our waymarked trails are the perfect way to explore Dalkeith Country Park on foot. With routes for every pace – from peaceful woodland strolls to leg-stretching hikes – there’s a path for everyone.
