Red Trail

The Red Trail

Under 2km – approx 30 minutes

The Red Trail is an easy walk that takes about 30 minutes—perfect for little legs! Plus, the views make it totally worth it.

You’ll wander behind Dalkeith Palace and cross Montagu Bridge, making for a lovely stroll any time of year. But February and May? That’s when it’s really special. In February, you’ll spot delicate snowdrops, and in May, a sea of bluebells will take your breath away.

Yellow Trail

The Yellow Trail

Under 2km – approx 20 minutes

Also known as The Wildernesse Walk, our Yellow Trail is a relatively flat route with a surface suitable for bikes and buggies. Around half way round this route you’ll find yourself in a sea of snowdrops. It has the potential to be the best snowdrop route at The Park…we’ll let you be the  judge of that.

As well as snowdrops, the Yellow Trail will take you round a series of easy loops that take in impressive views of St Mary’s Church and Dalkeith Palace, as well as a little donder along River Esk.

Green Trail

The Green Trail

6km – 1 hour 30 mins walk or 45 mins cycle

If you want to see a little of everything this is the trail for you. The Estate Trail takes you to the limits of the Park’s boundaries. By bike or by foot, you will see Smeaton Bridge, Castlemeads, lots of farmland and of course snowdrops!

Add in our North Woods Trail to enjoy a further challenge and more stunning views of Dalkeith Country Park’s 1,000 acres. Both these trails have some uneven elements so are a little more challenging on foot.
