Santa’s Grotto FAQs
How much are the tickets?
Tickets are priced at £14.00 for loyalty cardholders or £17.50 for non-loyalty cardholders. To buy your loyalty cardholder ticket, input your loyalty card number at checkout. Please bring your loyalty card with you on the day of your visit.
What’s included in the ticket price?
A very special meeting with Santa himself for ten minutes so you can have a good chat with him. Each child will receive a quality gift suitable for the age provided on booking. Photo opportunities are of course free of charge. Your ticket also includes entry to Fort Douglas adventure park on the day of your visit. There is no additional charge for adults who’ve accompanied their children to the Grotto in Fort Douglas.
Who do I need to buy a ticket for?
You only need to buy a ticket for the children/babies visiting Santa. You do not need to purchase tickets for the adults. There is a maximum of three children per ten minute time slot to ensure every child gets the most out of their time with Santa. There is a maximum of two adults per ten minute time slot.
How are you keeping everyone safe during the pandemic?
This year’s Santa’s Grotto will ensure social distancing is in place to help keep everyone safe. The measures we’ve implemented are as follows – please help us stick to them:
- A new location of The Boudoir. Please arrive on time or no more than five minutes before your slot to minimise contact with others. Unfortunately we do not have waiting space and drawing inside this year, instead the waiting space will be outdoors under our heated umbrellas.
- In line with Government guidance, Santa will be socially distanced two metres from you and your children. A photo opp is still allowed, just from a distance!
- Adults entering The Boudoir should wear face coverings.
- Please ensure your whole party uses the hand sanitiser station before entering the Grotto.
- If Government guidance at the time requires us to close Santa’s Grotto, you will receive a full refund.
Is there a joint Santa’s Grotto and Spectacle of Light ticket?
There is not. Spectacle of Light is a partnership event run with an external company therefore we cannot offer joint tickets.
Is Santa’s Grotto accessible?
Yes, The Boudoir can fit a wheelchair through. Please let us know in advance in the ‘Special Requirements’ box when booking your tickets. If your child has a disability, please let us know in the ‘Special Requirements’ box on booking or ask us anything at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our Santa can also use British Sign Language for children who are deaf.
Where do I park?
You can park in the Steele Park Car Park or Laundry House Car Park (we also have accessible parking here). Parking is free. Tap in postcode EH22 1ST in your satnav to get here. We’re a couple of minutes from Sheriffhall roundabout – take the Dalkeith exit on to Old Dalkeith Road and turn left shortly after into King’s Gate. Follow the long road through the park where you’ll find signage directing you to the car parks. For more info on how to get here on foot, by bike, bus or train please see our Find Us page.
Where and when should I arrive?
Please arrive no more than five minutes before your chosen time slot to help keep contact with others to a minimum. Santa’s Grotto is located off Restoration Yard’s courtyard in The Boudoir this year. The waiting area is outside under the heated umbrellas.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring your ticket with the QR code on it on the day of your visit. This can be via a printed ticket or mobile phone. Don’t forget, your ticket also gives you free access to Fort Douglas on the day of your visit so bring some layers and warm, sturdy footwear for adventures before or after your visit with Santa!
Can I take photos and videos?
Yes! You’re welcome to take as many as you like, just from a 2m distance! Please share them with us on social media using hashtags #realsantadalkeith #dalkeithcountrypark #christmasindalkeith
Can I change my date/time slot?
Your tickets is only valid for the date and time specified on your email confirmation. If you need to change it, we will do our best to reschedule however we can’t guarantee a place.
Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately we cannot issue refunds unless we have to cancel the event in line with Government guidance. We shall do our best to reschedule if you need to change your date or time but cannot guarantee a place.
Can I change the gift?
Presents cannot be exchanged either during or after the Santa’s Grotto experience. A present will be given deemed suitable for the age given on booking from babies through toddlers and older children.
