Volunteering at Dalkeith Country Park
If you have a little spare time and enjoy getting outdoors, why not join our group of volunteers? We are so grateful to our team who help us protect and maintain the Park for everyone to enjoy.
The Park itself is a walled estate with over 1000 acres of park, farm and woodland. Home to a huge variety of plants, trees and wildlife, we aim to create a diverse programme of tasks for our volunteers, where they play a very important role in the protection and development of this wondrous site. From creating and fixing paths to controlling pesky invasive species, there is plenty for our volunteers to do. Some tasks are quite physical and involve carrying, bending and lifting – all of which you’ll receive training on. The terrain can be rough, muddy and slippery at times, but there’s always a great team atmosphere. So much can be achieved together and with that comes a deep sense of satisfaction.
At the moment sessions run once a month, usually between 10.30am and 2.30pm on a set day. If you’re new to volunteering with us, we’ll get you in earlier to fill in paperwork and go through some health and safety info. Social distancing will of course remain in place during the pandemic.
