We’re delighted to share that the transformation of the main car park at Dalkeith Country Park is now complete and open for visitors once again.

This marks one of the most significant projects the Park has undertaken to date. Work began at the start of 2026 with the aim of creating a more welcoming, efficient, and accessible arrival experience for everyone visiting the estate.

The newly renovated car park now offers over 140 spaces, with a fully tarmacked surface and clearly lined bays to make parking simpler and more organised.

Alongside this, new bike racks have been installed to encourage sustainable travel, and improved access points into the Park include upgraded stairways for easier entry on foot.

Still to come

While the car park is already open and in use, there are still a few finishing touches to come. Over the next phase of the project, we’ll be adding new tree and shrub planting to soften the landscape. We’ll also be installing EV charging points, improved lighting, and a dedicated dog wash station to make visits even more convenient for both people and their four-legged companions.

We’re pleased to see this important upgrade already making a difference and look forward to completing the final enhancements in the months ahead.
