1,000 acres of history, walks, wellness, shopping, food and adventure, all in a beautiful setting just a few miles from Edinburgh. Dalkeith Country Park is the hub for adventures this summer – come and build the best days out for the holidays to come.
A Fort Douglas day out
Fort Douglas isn’t like any other playground, here we put adventure and fun first to make sure EPIC DAYS are had by all. There are lots of different ways you can enjoy a trip to Fort Douglas, but this is our recommendation:
To start: Book a table with our friends in The Kitchen and enjoy a delicious breakfast.
The main event: Head to Fort Douglas! Take on the turreted treehouse, fly down slides and make sure to get everyone involved. That’s right, parents, grandparents and everyone in between.
To finish: A pitstop at the Fort Douglas Cabin for slushies of course!
Explore new heights with Go Ape
Embrace adventure and take your tribe to a whole new height! Whether you’re coming with the whole family, just friends, or perhaps even celebrating a special occasion, Go Ape will help you AIM HIGH this summer.
There are three treetop courses for you to choose from. If you’re the adrenaline fuelled type then the Treetop Challenge is for you. For those looking for the best of both worlds, we suggest the Treetop Adventure Plus.
But what about littler legs you ask….Go Ape Dalkeith introduced the first Scottish Treetop Adventure course for children over 1m tall – yippee!
Which of the courses will you choose? Find out more here and get ready to challenge your comfort zone at Go Ape Dalkeith.
Choose mini adventures
Summer at Dalkeith Country Park has something for everyone, and that includes your toddler! Let them come and discover if Park. Life is for them in the Fort Douglas Mini Maze.
Designed specifically for those with littler legs, Mini Maze has its own mini turreted houses, slides, zip lines and we’re not forgetting the mini tractors.
Perhaps one of your littles has a special birthday coming up? Fort Douglas parties can be booked for children age 2 to 12 years. You’ll have exclusive use of our stretch tent and the option to add party bags and lunch boxes for those hungry little adventurers. It’s the perfect way to celebrate.
A trip to Restoration Yard
If taking it easy is your idea of holiday fun, look no further. Coffee stops, late lunch dates and ice cream breaks are key to building the PERFECT PITSTOP day out at The Park. Lucky for you, our friends at Restoration Yard have got the foodie fayre sorted.
We suggest starting your laidback visit with a takeaway coffee stop at The Larder, then take to the waymarked trails for a sunshine stroll through The Park woodlands. Post walk, head to The Kitchen for a lovely lunch, either sitting indoors or out.
Finish your visit, ice cream in hand lounging on the Dalkeith Palace lawn and soaking up the sunshine – perfection!
Do it all!
Dive into Park. Life this summer at Dalkeith Country Park and try all of our incredible attractions and days out. How will we fit it all in you ask? Pitch up at The Park of course!
