Explore Our Adventure Playground
Calling all young adventurers ~ operation fun awaits at Fort Douglas! Run, slide, fly, climb and explore the most magical adventure playground. Bridges and slides, turreted treehouses, zip wires, rope bridges, climbing walls and tunnels await. Perfect for children up to 12 years, with a toddler play area for under 5s. Let the adventures begin…
Fly high on our zip lines
Calling all thrill-seekers! Get ready to fly. The zip lines at Fort Douglas are responsible for many a wide grin and excited shriek. Our launch tower is the starting point for all three zips, providing the perfect start line for those all important family races!
Slide into Adventure
Giant slides? Tick. Double slides? Tick. Tunnel slides? Oh yes. Slides for the fearless and lower slides for those younger explorers? Yes yes yes! Fort Douglas adventure playground is slidetastic ~ designed for all adventurers who just love whizzing down a slippery surface! Grown ups welcome too.
Discover Treetop Forts
Standing proudly in Fort Douglas is our giant treetop fort ~ little legs will feel ever-so-triumphant as they climb to the top and enjoy the spectacular view over Dalkeith Country Park! Scramble up nets, over rope bridges and race down slides to discover many more mini wooden forts throughout Fort Douglas in both Sky Maze and Mini Maze.
Are you a jumping pillow fanatic or a jelly-belly aficionado? Fort Douglas is home to two marvellously giant bouncy pillows. Two different sizes of jelly-bellies help provide a safe space for Mini-Mazers to explore bouncing, while the over 5s take giant leaps on the larger pillow.
Mini Maze for Mini Adventurers
Fort Douglas includes a wonderful secure play area designed especially for children aged 4 and under! Mini Maze is where little adventurers can learn to explore and let their imaginations (and feet!) run wild. It’s a carefully designed play zone just for them. The younger sibling to Sky Maze is a safe and challenging toddler area with tunnels, towers, slides and bridges all designed for little legs.
Don't Forget to Refuel
All that adventuring is thirsty work and let’s be honest no family trip to Fort Douglas is complete without a caffine-fix for the grown ups too! The Fort Douglas cabin is open seasonally providing hot drinks, snacks and cakes when a pit-stop is required. And if the cabin isn’t open during your visit, there’s no need to go hangry – our friends at Restoration Yard will ensure your all re-fuelled in The Kitchen or The Coffee Bar.
