Dalkeith Country Park
It may be a biased opinion but we think Dalkeith Country Park is a pretty incredible dog walking hub. With 1,000 acres to explore and six waymarked walking trails you won’t be stuck for somewhere new to explore every time. Don’t forget to stop by our friends at Restoration Yard post-walk to treat your pup to a doggy ice cream or special liver cake from The Larder.

Portobello
Portobello is a firm favourite for dog walkers in and around Edinburgh. If your doggy is a seaside lover then this is the place to take them. The area also boasts a dog-grooming salon, a treats bakery aimed at a canine clientele, plus numerous pubs and cafes offering a warm welcome to four-legged visitors. It comes as no surprise that pet-lovers have claimed the popular seaside destination as Edinburgh’s puppy paradise.
The Braid Hills
This lovely park takes its name from the Old Hermitage House, and has been designated as a local nature reserve. There are plenty of paths for you and your dog to explore, through woodland, scrubland and grassland. The Braid Burn is particularly picturesque on a sunny day, and a gentle stroll to the observatory is always a lovely adventure.

Arthur's Seat
Your pup is likely to look as happy as this chappy when bounding over Arthur’s Seat. The extinct volcano dominates the Edinburgh skyline and walking to the summit offers fantastic views across the city. If the historic hill itself and Salisbury Crags are too much of a challenge the surrounding Holyrood Park and lochs offer plenty of space for exercise and exploring with your pup.
Colinton Dell
Colinton Dell is one of the most intimate and scenic sections of the Water of Leith, carved deep into the bedrock between Slateford and Colinton. The walkways go past the Redhall Mill and Kate’s mill, where people say Scotland’s first bank notes were made. It’s ideal for dog-walking, and you are likely to come across the same friendly faces each time you visit.
