At Dalkeith Country Park there is something for everyone. For those with little explorers, Fort Douglas will be your new adventure haven. Open 7 days a week with two sessions each day, the adventure park is home to turreted treehouses, giant slides, jumping pillows, zip lines and much much more. Fort Douglas is ideal for children up to 12 years, with a toddler play area specially designed for under 5s.
Let the adventures begin…
Something for all ages
The ultimate family adventure begins at Fort Douglas…and we mean for the whole family! Sky Maze is ideal for your 5 to 12 year old’s who love nothing more than to run, slide, fly, climb and explore over bridges, down slides, and through plenty of turreted treehouses. Adults can get involved too in the giant slide fun, racing your littles to the bottom to be crowned the Sky Maze champ.
For littler legs aged 4 and under, Mini Maze is the specially designed fun zone just for them. The younger sibling to Sky Maze is a safe and challenging toddler area with tunnels, towers and bridges all designed for little legs.
Oh and Fort Douglas is also home to two jumping pillows, one specifically for little ones to enjoy. AND three way zip lines that are perfect for racing fellow adventurers.
Keeping your littles safe
Our team work very hard to ensure that Fort Douglas is kept to the highest standard possible. Eric – The Park’s Facilities Manager – does daily checks of all of the Fort Douglas equipment, testing everything from see saw’s to zip lines. See him in action here.
The majority of the equipment in Fort Douglas is designed to be moderately challenging. Some items may only be suitable for over 5s or 6s. Keep your eyes peeled for the 6+ stickers on some of our equipment, allowing you to choose the best and safest fun for your wee ones.
Fort Douglas facilities
When planning your big adventure day out, we understand how important it is to know where to go, what to bring and most importantly for your littles…where are the toilets!? We’ve got you covered.
You will find male, female and a disabled toilets at the Fort Douglas Hub – this is also where you will get your tickets scanned on the way in.
Like you, we too are keen to avoid hangry kiddos! During busy times the Fort Douglas Cabin – located in the center of the adventure park – will have snacks, treats and hot & cold drinks available to purchase. If you opt to bring your own picnic you can head straight to the Fort Douglas picnic area and choose the perfect bench for lunchtime fun.
