This month, Dalkeith Country Park sees the opening of an exclusive exhibition by fine art photographer Walter, The Earl of Dalkeith, open from Saturday 12th October 2019 to Friday 3rd January 2020.

This symbolic homecoming will showcase Walter Dalkeith’s latest work “TO GOD & TO NATURE” in a small exhibition in The Loft at Restoration Yard, alongside the historic books that inspired his images. The exhibition is free to view. His work will also be sold in store at Restoration Yard with £5 from every sale to be donated to CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland).

Walter Dalkeith is a fine art photographer exploring the aesthetic beauty found throughout the world. Primarily focusing on the natural world, his aim is to evoke the underlying emotions nature makes us feel.

In this latest series, “TO GOD & TO NATURE”, Walter was inspired by the work of naturalist and ornithologist George Edwards. Over the course of over 20 years, from 1743 – 1764, Edwards dedicated himself to the creation of two major sets of works detailing creatures and birds for the most part never before, described or drawn.

Walter hopes the exhibition will raise funds for and awareness of CHAS:

The run up to Christmas only magnifies the poignancy of the work CHAS does to help children with life-limiting conditions. At this time of year, when children are at the forefront of people’s minds, to help CHAS provide experiences that bring a smile on a child’s face and allow them to enjoy simple things that are so often taken for granted resonates all the more.

Please note this exhibition is located in The Loft, accessed via stairs from the store at Restoration Yard. There is an accessible route for wheelchair users via the lift, however this route is not accessible during Wellbeing Lab class times. Please see the class timetable here for timings.
