Supporting Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity
Dalkeith Country Park is proud to partner with Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity (ECHC) as our official charity partner for 2026/2027.
ECHC helps babies, children and young people across the region receive the best possible care, while supporting families through what can be an incredibly difficult time.
Throughout our partnership, there are lots of ways to get involved, from donations at the Park to 20p from every ice cream sold going directly to ECHC, alongside a programme of fundraising events throughout the year.
So, how have we raised £11,543.80 for Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity?
The Duck Race
Our Duck Race returned to Dalkeith Country Park in May, with multiple races taking place throughout the day and plenty of quacking good fun!
Alongside the races, visitors could enjoy face painting, a raffle packed with prizes, ECHC red candy floss and even the chance to have a photo in a real fire engine. The Imperial Scottish Garrison also joined us in full Stormtrooper costume, stopping for photos with children and families throughout the day.
Together, The Duck Race raised an amazing £2,563 for ECHC.
Frank The Giant Jellycat
Earlier this year, we welcomed a very special guest to Restoration Yard: Frank, the giant Jellycat dog!
Frank was the star of our special charity prize draw, giving visitors the chance to win the ultimate cuddly companion while raising money for ECHC.
His name was chosen through a competition run by ECHC among children at the hospital, with four-year-old Noah Birrell from Roslin picking the winning name.
From April to May, visitors could enter the draw for £10 per entry, with all proceeds going directly to Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity.
The result? £2,240 raised for ECHC – and lots of smiles along the way!
Ice Cream Sales
Sometimes, a little treat can make a big difference.
As part of our ongoing fundraising, 20p from every ice cream sold at Dalkeith Country Park is donated to ECHC.
Thanks to all those ice cream stops throughout the summer, this has already raised a brilliant £6,740.80 for the charity.
And the best bit? This is an ongoing way to support ECHC, so every ice cream you enjoy can help us add to our fundraising total.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together so far, but we’re not finished yet! There are more fundraising opportunities coming up throughout the rest of 2026, giving you even more ways to have fun at the Park while supporting an incredible cause.
Coming up: Festive Fun Run
Our Elf Dash and Santa Dash will bring plenty of Christmas cheer to the Park, all for a great cause. Expect festive fun and photo opportunities, with every participant receiving a medal and festive hat. All profits will go to Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity.
And if your four-legged friend wants to join in the festive fun, make sure they bring their best Christmas outfit! We’ll be awarding prizes for the most jolly dressed-up dog.
