We’ve got all of the events and more that you were ho ho hoping for this festive season. Kick off Christmas with our friends at Restoration Yard at the wreath making workshop or try something different and opt for Christmas bauble painting. Treat the kids to a tasty workshop or two decorating their very own gingerbread house or Christmas cookies – only if they’re on the nice list! Looking for something for the whole family to enjoy? Santa Fun Run & Elf Dash or Spectacle of Light are the ones for you.
Christmas activities at Dalkeith Country Park start on Saturday 26 November and run all the way to Christmas Eve – 24 December. Don’t miss out! Book your festive fun now.
Christmas Wreath Making
Set your most creative festive spirit free with our friends at Restoration Yard and make a beautiful festive wreath – your door will be the envy of your neighbourhood, we promise. Choose from fresh flowers, dried fruits, pine cones and foliage from The Park to create your masterpiece.
Please note this workshop is for adults. We recommend bringing gardening gloves to help handle pricklier items such as holly! Our wreath making workshop will be located in The Loft, a large space above The Store at Restoration Yard.
Christmas wreath making workshops are running on 26 & 27 November || 3 & 4 December || 10 & 11 December || 17 & 18 December.
Christmas Bauble Workshop
Design a beautiful set of six Christmas baubles at Restoration Yard this festive season. Decorate six unique Christmas baubles with our expert workshop leader to guide you. This workshop is designed for adults.
This festive 2-hour workshop is being held on 26 & 27 November. You can select a morning or afternoon session.
Spectacle of Light
Enjoy the night-time wonder of Fort Douglas, illuminated under the stars – where else can you play after dark? This year, our popular winter evening adventure is inspired by Treasure Island. Spectacle of Light features treasure hunts and real-life pirates! With the pirate’s map to guide you, search for gold through tunnels, down slides, along zip wires and over rope bridges! The challenges of this fabulous play area are perfect for sea-faring adventurers. Why not dress up for the occasion?

Christmas Cookie Decorating
This is a really fun hands-on Christmas workshop for kids! Little ones under the age of 12 can decorate pre-made cookie stars and gingerbread men and walk away with four delicious cookies to enjoy themselves or give as gifts to loved ones.
What’s more, our workshop leader is PVG Certified so you can drop the kids off and enjoy some much needed me-time whether that’s shopping in The Store or lunch in The Kitchen.
Cookie decorating workshops run on 3, 4, 9, 11, 17, 18, 22 & 23 December || Morning and afternoon sessions are available
Santa Fun Run & Elf Dash
Our Santa Fun Run and Elf Dash through Dalkeith Country Park are the perfect way to get into the festive spirit. Join hundreds of other Santas on this jovial jog along a 5km route. It’s sure to be a fantastic festive event to enjoy with friends, family and loved ones.
Your little ones can get involved too. Let them loose on our 1km kiddies’ Elf Dash. Babies in buggies, littler legs (of 11 and under) and all your four-legged friends are welcome to run this accessible little jaunt along King’s Drive.
Date: Sunday 11 December || Time: Elf Dash starts at 10.00 | Santa Fun run starts 11.00
Gingerbread House Decorating
Let their creativity soar with this everlasting Christmas tradition – gingerbread house decorating. Children of 9 – 15 years old can decorate a pre-made gingerbread house and walk away with unique piece of festive art. Give as a tasty gift to loved ones, if it doesn’t get munched before then!
This event is running on 10 December from 10.00 to 11.00 and on 17 December from 14.00 to 15.00.
Festive Shopping & Eating
Gather friends and family and indulge in all things foodie fayre and shopping galore at Restoration Yard. Head into The Store to tick off all of your festive gifiting needs. The brand new Hamporium is the perfect place to get all of those ‘hard-to-buy-for’ presents. Don’t forget to book your table in The Kitchen and enjoy the new Christmas menu, served throughout December. The fantastic chefs have created a taste-bud-tingling 2 or 3 course menu, guaranteed to get you ho-ho-hoing and decking those halls.
The Christmas menu will be served daily from 25 November, the Autumn/Winter menu will also be available.
