For the dog owners
We love dogs at Harbro and we understand the different things that make them happy! Here are a few of our favourite things to do at this time of year to keep them happy and healthy:
Safety checks – Take the opportunity to do a safety check on your lead and collar / harness. Are they in good condition for all outside fun you’ve got planned this summer?
Treat them – new toys will keep your pup mentally challenged. We have a great range in-store, from ball launchers to squeakers, for even the toughest chewers!
Change it up – Why not try out some new walking routes to refresh your daily walks? The new sights and smells will keep your dog’s brain stimulated. Check out Dalkeith Country Parks waymarked routes.
New bed o’clock – Sometimes, even though they might *really* love it, it’s time to ditch the old bed and get a new one. Keep to a waterproof fabric if your pup tends to be a bit grubby, or a soft cosy one for those more delicate doggos!
For the cat owners
New accessories – If you have an outdoor cat, they might be out and about a bit more now that the weather is turning warmer. It’s therefore the perfect time to invest in a new reflective collar to keep them safe. If you’re worried about wildlife, one with a bell attached will warn any birds pre-pounce!
Enrichment toys – Indoor cats also may be more active in the longer daylight hours. Stock up on some new enrichment toys and scratching posts. Choose a toy that suits their personality – are they a kicker, a chaser, or a clawer?
For the wild bird enthusiasts
It’s really important to keep feeding the birds throughout summer – they need more high protein snacks at this time of year to help with breeding and moulting.
Good hygiene is essential to avoid cross contamination, so now is the time to stock up on new feeders and disinfect your bird tables / baths. In hot weather, remember to keep any water source topped up.
