We have taken the decision not to open our campsite in August 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We look forward to camping at the park in August 2021.
Dalkeith Country Park is a beautiful, back-to-basics camping experience available during the Edinburgh festival month. We have the following facilities available on site:
We will have a reception cabin on site where you can check in/check out. Check-in is available from 2pm to 6pm with check out by 10am.
Toilets and Showers
We have four showers with hot water available on site and toilets. Unfortunately we are not able to provide disabled toilets or facilities at this time. The facilities are rented on site and are basic, but help provide a real, affordable camping experience in a beautiful location close to Edinburgh.
Washing Up Facilities
We will have two sinks available on site with cold water for washing up. This water can also be used as drinking water.
Food and Drink
On site you’ll find The Kitchen which serves breakfast, lunch and Afternoon Tea. You can buy breakfast vouchers when you book your camping online – pre-booking is advised especially at weekends. For more informal self-service our Coffee Bar in Restoration Yard’s Foodhall offers sit-in and take-away soups, sandwiches, kids’ lunchboxes, wraps and an incredible selection of cakes, traybakes and scones (also the best coffee around!). The Larder opens in our summer months for take-away food and drink too and allows dogs in too with a few seats. The Kitchen is open seven days 9.30am to 4.30 weekdays and 5pm weekends. Restoration Yard is open daily 9.30am to 6pm.
In Dalkeith and the surrounding area you’ll find supermarkets, restaurants and take-aways.
Things to do on site
Dalkeith Country Park is home to Restoration Yard Store, Restaurant and Wellbeing Lab in addition to Fort Douglas adventure play park where kids (and their grown ups!) can enjoy hours of entertainment. You can get 25% off admission to Fort Douglas if you book your tickets at the same time as your camping experience.
What’s more, this is all situated in a stunning 1,000 acre country park with waymarked walks and cycle paths to enjoy. You can enjoy a day’s fishing on the River Esk (fishing permit required) and take part in some wildlife spotting – roe deer, otters, buzzards, foxes, badgers, hares and rabbits all call the park their home. Over the summer holidays we have a range of extra activities for all ages. See our What’s On page here to browse our latest events.
