Outdoor activities in Midlothian
Archery, bushcraft, cycling, walking, zorbing, playing, eating, shopping – there is something for everyone here at Dalkeith Country Park. Whether your idea of a day out involves fitness, keeping the kids entertained, or simply sitting back with coffee and cake looking out over the River Esk, you’re sure to find it here. And what’s better, we’re only a short drive from Edinburgh’s city centre and the surrounding towns in East Lothian and Midlothian. Please make sure you check out the page of each activity for dates and times.
Space to restore yourself
Restore yourself. It’s our new motto here at the park and what better way to do so than get yourself outdoors? The list of benefits from time spent out in nature is longer than our arm: it gives us a sense of wellbeing, our brains a break from everyday overstimulation, strengthens our immunity, gives us healthy bones and respiratory systems. That doesn’t necessarily mean hurtling down a hill on a bike. It can be sitting next to the River Esk with a picnic, or watching for the variety of wildlife whilst out on one of our waymarked walks.
Enjoying nature responsibly
There are many species, from roe deer to the smallest beetle, that call Dalkeith Country Park their home. Each has their own particular part to play in maintaining the balance and diversity of this special habitat. Please help us keep it this way while enjoying the great outdoors.
