Open day to kick-start Restoration Yard recruitment drive

3rd May, 2016

Dalkeith Country Park’s search for 50 of the area’s best employment candidates will get well and truly under way with a recruitment open day.

The recruitment drive comes just weeks after the announcement that 50 candidates would be sought to boost the team at Dalkeith Country Park in time for the summer opening of the new Restoration Yard and Fort Douglas playground. Anyone keen to join the team at the park is invited to the Glasshouse Hotel in Edinburgh on Saturday 14th May between 12pm and 4pm. Prospective employees will have the chance to meet some of the team already in place over refreshments; submit a CV or complete an application; and take part in informal interviews.

Formal interviews will be held at Dalkeith Country Park further down the line. A range of full and part time posts across events, bar, restaurant, maintenance and sales departments – among others – are available thanks to more than £4million of investment at the popular park. Successful candidates will join Visitor Services Manager, Andrew Elmer, in a team that will welcome a brand new retail and leisure concept to Scotland. “Things are getting very exciting at Dalkeith Country Park, and there couldn’t be a better time to join the team,” said Andrew. “The Restoration Yard and Fort Douglas will reinvigorate the park, and I’m confident that the successful candidates will enjoy working in such a beautiful and welcoming environment, no matter what type of role they undertake. “We’re looking for keen individuals with varying levels of experience and plenty of enthusiasm to make sure our visitors have the best possible experience at Dalkeith. I’m looking forward to meeting those interested in working for us during our recruitment open day.”

The Restoration Yard’s exciting concept has been developed in conjunction with Amanda Pratt, designer and previous owner of Ireland’s leading retail and food experience, Avoca. It promises two intriguing floors of shopping – embracing a diverse retail mix from lifestyle to fashion to children’s, alongside a dramatic, glass-walled restaurant space looking out across the river Esk – and heralds Scotland’s first development emulating the signature, eclectic style synonymous with Avoca. A purpose-designed wellness loft will also feature, offering a range of activities focused on mindfulness, health and wellbeing.

Fort Douglas, the 1,000m2 playground which sits alongside the Restoration Yard, was designed and created by luxury treehouse and play area designer, Blue Forest. Together they will form a hub at the heart of the 1,000-acre Dalkeith Country Park, which is owned by the Duke of Buccleuch.
